The FlexGrip for the M11 and M EV1, in OxBlood
Machined in Miami for the Leica M11 and M EV1, the FlexGrip continues the shape of the camera rather than bolting something onto it. The plate is where the engineering lives: an integrated Arca profile, a concealed AirTag module and a handle that comes off with one screw.
This page is the OxBlood finish on its own, at 73 grams.
- Fits. Leica M11 and Leica M EV1.
- Material. Aluminum, anodised in OxBlood.
- Finish. OxBlood, a deep matte red. Anodising is a surface treatment rather than a coat of paint, so it adds no meaningful weight: this grip weighs the same 73 grams as the chrome finishes.
- Weight. 73 grams.
- Size. 5.47 inches long, 1.9 inches wide, 2.7 inches high.
- Tripod. Integrated Arca profile for direct mounting, shaped to stop the camera tipping forward on the head.
- Tracking. A removable module conceals an AirTag beneath the SD card door. Photos still transfer straight out of the camera's USB-C port, faster than most card readers. Take the module out and the door returns to standard.
- Removable grip. One screw. The handle comes off and another goes on, so the grip can be re-finished later without replacing the plate.
- Internal padding. The camera rests on a silicone mat, which prevents scratches and stops the grip shifting under the body.
- Installation tool. A flat keychain tool designed by Gaston Shutters, with a 4 mm hex. It doubles as a box opener, so it stays on your keys rather than in a drawer.
- Origin. Designed, engineered and manufactured in Miami, Florida.
- Aluminum. 73 grams complete. The light one, and the one that keeps the camera handling like an M.
- The finish. OxBlood, a deep matte red. Anodising is a surface treatment rather than a coat of paint, so it adds no meaningful weight: this grip weighs the same 73 grams as the chrome finishes.
- Origin. Designed, engineered and manufactured in Miami, Florida.
- The finishA deep red, matte rather than glossy, which keeps it from reading as a bright accessory colour against a black or chrome M. It is the one finish in the range that is unmistakably a choice.
- A day of carrying it73 grams. Identical to the chrome finishes, because anodising changes the surface and not the part.
- On the tripod, then off againThe Arca profile is cut into the plate itself, so the camera drops onto a head and comes back off without anything being unscrewed first. The profile is shaped to stop the body tipping forward, which is where a long lens usually takes it.
- Knowing where it isThe AirTag sits inside the plate, closed from the outside. Nothing protrudes and nothing announces that it is there.
- FlexGrip. One, in OxBlood, with the handle fitted.
- EDC Keychain Tool. The flat 4 mm hex tool that installs the grip and opens the AirTag module.
- AirTag. Never included. Apple sell the tag; what we machine is the compartment it drops into.
- Leica M11 and M EV1. The Leica M11 and the M EV1. The plate is machined to those bodies, so it is not a universal grip and is not sold as one. The M10 has its own FlexGrip.
- The card door. The AirTag module sits under it and comes out entirely.
- Straight onto a tripod. The Arca profile is part of the plate.
- Handles are interchangeable. Any FlexGrip handle fits this plate, in either material.
- Anodized and chrome finishes. A dry cloth for dust, a barely damp one for anything else. Skip solvents and abrasive pastes: the finish is a layer, and once it is cut through it does not grow back.
- The screw. Check it is snug when you first fit the grip and again after a few outings. A quarter turn with the supplied tool is all it ever needs.
- What does it weigh?73 grams.
- Is an AirTag included? No. The compartment is machined into the plate and the AirTag is Apple's to sell. The module that holds it is removable, so the camera can go back to a standard card door whenever you want.
- Can I put the camera straight onto a tripod?Yes. The Arca profile is part of the plate, so no separate plate or adapter is needed and nothing has to come off first.
- Can I change the handle later?Yes. One screw releases the handle and another goes straight on, so a grip bought in aluminum can become brass later without replacing the plate underneath. The handles are sold on their own for exactly this.
- Which cameras does it fit?The Leica M11 and the M EV1. The plate is machined to those bodies, so it is not a universal grip and is not sold as one. The M10 has its own FlexGrip.
