• Set weight. 163 to 171 grams for the pair. 78 for the case on its aluminum plate, 85 to 93 for the strap depending on the length you choose.
• Case size. 5 5/8 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide, 2 3/4 inches high. 143 by 38 by 70 mm.
• Fits. Leica M11 and Leica M EV1. The plate is machined to those two bodies.
• Plate. Aircraft grade aluminum in Black Chrome or Silver Chrome, with a concealed Arca profile, an AirTag bay, dual quarter twenty threads and an anti skid base. The same case is also sold on a solid brass plate as its own set.
• Strap lengths. Choose one of five at checkout. 30" (76 cm), 40" (102 cm), 45" (114 cm), 50" (127 cm) or 55" (140 cm). Fixed, measured lug to lug.

The pairing is the point. The case and the strap are cut from one hide in one run, which is not something you can assemble afterwards by ordering the two separately.

• Matching leather, both pieces. Italian vegetable tanned leather in a black gator pattern, on the case and on the strap pad.
• Edges finished three times. Painted, sanded and finished again across 72 hours.
• Flat rope body. Our own flat rope, 5/8 inch, with the padded leather section where the weight lands on the neck.
• The rings. Tempered steel throughout. The blackout set is matte, the polished set is stainless, and both are in the box.
• Aluminum plate. Precision machined aircraft aluminum, anodized in Black Chrome or Silver Chrome. The colour sits inside the anodized layer rather than on top of it.
• Lined and padded inside. The finish of the camera never meets bare metal or bare leather.

• One hide, two piecesThe case and the strap pad come from the same run, so they start the same colour and take on a patina together. Ordering the two separately later is a gamble on the hide.
• Where the weight sitsThe padded section carries the load across the neck rather than a cord cutting into it, and the pair is light enough to forget.
• Straight onto the tripodThe Arca profile is machined into the plate and sits flush, so the head takes the camera with the case on and the strap still attached.

• Classic Flat Padded Rope strap. One, in the length you choose. It fits every camera; what changes is the fitting you pick below. Whichever you choose ships with the set, and the others are not included.
• Black Split Ring. The standard fit on Black Swamp, and the right answer for most cameras. 2 blackout tempered steel rings fitted as standard, 2 tempered polished stainless steel rings as the opposite-colour set, 2 full grain leather anti-scratch lug covers, and 1 split ring pry tool.
• Split Ring for Small Lug. For bodies whose lugs a standard ring will not pass through. A regular camera lug measures roughly 3 mm across the inside; a small lug is closer to 2.5 mm, and these rings are wound thinner to fit it without forcing. Worth choosing if a standard split ring has ever felt tight on your body, and if you are unsure, measure the lug opening before you pick. 2 split rings sized for small camera lugs, 2 full grain leather anti-scratch lug covers, and 1 split ring pry tool.

• Leica M11 and M EV1. The FlexCase plate is machined to those two bodies.
• Not the M11 D. That body needs its own plate, because the plate is machined to the body it sits under.
• The case stays on. Battery, SD card and USB-C are all reachable without taking the camera out of the case.
• Straight onto a tripod. The Arca profile is concealed in the base plate, so the head takes the camera with the case still fitted.
• Two quarter twenty threads. For a plate, a grip, a cage or a strap anchor.

Wipe the leather with a dry cloth. On a gator pattern, dust settles into the scale texture, and a soft dry brush lifts it out without disturbing the finish. A barely damp cloth handles anything the dry one leaves, then let it dry flat and away from direct heat.

The strap's padded section is chrome tanned, so it tolerates damp better than the case does and needs conditioner only when it feels dry to the hand.

The rope needs no treatment. Rinse it in cool water if it picks up salt or grit and let it air dry before rolling it away.

The plate is anodized aluminum, so it is cleaned rather than polished. A dry or barely damp cloth, nothing abrasive and no solvents: the colour lives inside the anodized layer, and once you cut through it the plate does not come back. Brush grit off the base before wiping, because sand dragged across the plate is what actually scratches it.

Both leather pieces darken and mark with use, and they do it together because they are cut from the same hide. That is the patina, and it is the reason to buy them as a pair.

• What am I saving? The set is priced below the case and the strap bought separately, and the saving is already taken off the price you see.
• Can I get the case in brass? Yes. The Black Swamp Solid Brass set is the same case and the same strap on a solid brass plate. Brass puts the weight in the hand at 186 grams and darkens as it oxidizes; this aluminum one is 78 grams and holds its finish. Everything else is identical.
• Which split ring do I need, standard or small lug? Standard suits most cameras. Choose Split Ring for Small Lug if the lug opening on your body is narrow, around 2.5 mm inside rather than the usual 3 mm, which is common on compact and older bodies. A standard ring will not pass through cleanly, and forcing one marks the lug.
• How big is the case, and what does it weigh? 5 5/8 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide, 2 3/4 inches high. 143 by 38 by 70 mm. 78 grams, 2.8 ounces, complete with the plate.
