A saturated red, pebbled and glossy.

The Classic Padded Flat Rope Strap is made for photographers who want a cleaner carry with more comfort through the neck and shoulder. Ruby Gloss puts that build in a saturated red leather with a pebbled grain and a glossy finish, against a black flat rope body and blackout hardware.

The flat rope profile sits closer to the body than a round strap, so the camera stays steady and balanced while still moving naturally when you shoot. The padded section adds support where you feel the weight most, which is what makes the difference on long walks, travel days and everyday carry.

Five fixed lengths, seven ways to attach it, 85 to 93 grams depending on the length. Made in Miami.

  • Lengths. Choose one of five at checkout. 30" (76 cm), 40" (102 cm), 45" (114 cm), 50" (127 cm) or 55" (140 cm). Fixed, not adjustable, measured lug to lug.
  • Strap width. 5/8 inch, flat rope body.
  • Pad. 1.5 inches wide, 12 inches long.
  • Weight. 85 grams at 30 inches, rising to 93 grams at 55 inches.
  • Finish. Ruby Gloss, a saturated red leather with a pebbled grain and a glossy finish on the padded section.
  • Hardware. Blackout rings fitted as standard, so the hardware disappears into the rope. A second set in the opposite colour, polished stainless, ships in the same box.
  • Attachment methods. Choose one of seven at checkout. Polished Split Ring, Quick Release Attachment, Hassy Clip, Multi Attachment System, Square Lug 1/2” width Flat Webbing, Square Lug 3/8” width Flat Webbing, or Split Ring for Small Lug.
  • Made in Miami. Cut, sewn and finished in our own shop.

The pad is where the strap earns its keep. A flat rope on its own cuts into the neck once the camera gets heavy; the padded section spreads that load across 12 inches so a full day of carrying stops registering.

  • Ruby Gloss leather. Italian leather in a saturated red, pebbled grain with a glossy finish. The same hide we use on the Ruby Gloss FlexCase, so the two pair exactly.
  • The padded section. Chrome tanned, so it tolerates damp better than a vegetable tanned hide and stays soft without a conditioning schedule.
  • Strap ends. American top grain, chosen for its toughness and tight fibers, because the end is where the wear concentrates.
  • Flat rope body. Our own flat rope, 5/8 inch, which sits closer to the body than a round strap and needs no treatment in normal use.
  • The rings. Tempered steel throughout. The blackout set is matte, the polished set is stainless, and both are in the box.
  • Where the weight sitsThe padded section carries the load across the neck and shoulder rather than a cord cutting into it. It is the difference between a strap you take off at lunch and one you forget you are wearing.
  • Picking a length30 inches is neck carry, camera high on the chest. 40 and 45 sit at the hip for shoulder carry. 50 and 55 are the crossbody lengths. All five are fixed, so choose for the way you actually carry.
  • Colour that showsA saturated red against a black rope and blackout rings reads as a deliberate choice rather than an accessory. Swap in the polished rings from the box if you would rather the hardware caught the light.
  • Moving between bodiesQuick release anchors take the strap off in a second, and the Multi Attachment System carries every fitting at once for anyone running more than one camera.
  • Classic Flat Padded Rope strap. One, in the length you choose. It fits every camera; what changes is the fitting you pick below. Whichever you choose ships with the strap, and the others are not included.
  • Polished Split Ring. The standard fit, and the right answer for most cameras. 2 blackout tempered steel rings fitted as standard, 2 tempered polished stainless steel rings as the opposite-colour set, 2 full grain leather anti-scratch lug covers, and 1 split ring pry tool.
  • Split Ring for Small Lug. For bodies with narrow lugs that a standard ring will not pass through. 2 split rings sized for small camera lugs, 2 full grain leather anti-scratch lug covers, and 1 split ring pry tool.
  • Quick Release Attachment. For anyone who takes the strap off often or moves it between bodies. 2 quick release anchors in the original sealed box, simple installation needed, and 2 tri-glide adjust buckles.
  • Hassy Clip. Cut for Hasselblad lugs, no split rings involved. 2 custom clips, precision fit, and 2 tri-glide adjust buckles.
  • Square Lug 1/2” width Flat Webbing. Threads straight through 1/2 inch square lugs. The strap ends terminate in flat webbing, so no rings are needed.
  • Square Lug 3/8” width Flat Webbing. The same, sized to 3/8 inch square lugs.
  • Multi Attachment System. Carries every fitting at once, for anything the others do not cover. 2 quick release anchors, 2 leather split ring anchors, 2 blackout tempered steel rings, 2 tempered polished stainless steel rings, 2 full grain leather anti-scratch lug covers, 1 split ring pry tool, and 2 tri-glide adjust buckles.

Wipe the leather with a dry cloth. On a glossy finish, a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one lifts marks without dulling the surface.

If the strap takes on water, let it dry away from direct heat rather than near it, because heat is what hardens a hide. A full grain leather darkens and softens with use; that patina is the material behaving correctly, not wearing out.

The padded section is chrome tanned, so it tolerates damp better than a vegetable tanned hide and needs no conditioner on a schedule. Condition it only when it feels dry to the hand.

The strap end is American top grain and it is the part that takes the wear. Check its stitching when you clean the strap.

The rope needs no treatment. Rinse it in cool water if it picks up salt or grit, and let it air dry before rolling it away.

  • Which length should I pick? 30 inches is neck carry with the camera high on the chest. 40 and 45 sit at the hip for shoulder carry. 50 and 55 are the crossbody lengths. All are measured lug to lug and fixed, not adjustable.
  • Which rings come with it? Both colours. Ruby Gloss ships fitted with blackout rings, and a second set in the opposite colour, polished stainless, is in the same box. Swap them whenever you like with the pry tool included.
  • Does it match the Ruby Gloss FlexCase? Yes. The strap pad and the case come from the same leather, so the two are made to be carried together.
  • How heavy is it? 85 grams at 30 inches, rising to 93 grams at 55 inches. The padded section adds comfort rather than weight.
In the hand, start to finish

Shown in the film in the Outback finish. The construction, the padded section and the hardware are the same across every colourway. Made in Miami, by photographers, for photographers.
