The FlexGrip Handle, in four finishes
The handle on its own, for a FlexGrip plate you already own. Four finishes across two materials, so the grip can change without the plate changing.
Aluminum in Black Chrome or Silver Chrome weighs 21 grams. Brass, solid or in a black patina, weighs 65 grams, and it is the only one that changes with use.
- Material. Aluminum in Black Chrome and Silver Chrome. Solid brass in Solid Brass and Black Patina.
- Weight. 21 grams in aluminum, 65 grams in brass.
- Fits. Every FlexGrip plate we make for the Leica Q2, Q3, M11 and M EV1. One screw, and it is the same screw on all of them.
- Fitting. One screw, with the 4 mm hex on the EDC Keychain Tool. No other tool is needed and the plate stays on the camera.
- Sold as. The handle only. The plate is a separate product.
- Origin. Designed, engineered and manufactured in Miami, Florida.
- Solid Brass. Warm and dense, 65 grams. Develops a patina with use, so it ends up particular to you.
- Black Patina. Darkened brass, 65 grams. High-contact areas gradually reveal the brass beneath.
- Black Chrome. Aluminum, 21 grams. Dark and modern, pairs with black bodies.
- Silver Chrome. Aluminum, 21 grams. Bright and classic, pairs with silver and chrome bodies.
- Origin. Designed, engineered and manufactured in Miami, Florida.
- Choosing a material21 grams in aluminum against 65 in brass. That is the whole decision: brass is three times the handle and you feel it straight away.
- Choosing a finishMatch the body or contrast with it. Black Chrome and Silver Chrome stay as they are; the two brass finishes do not.
- Fitting itOne screw with the 4 mm hex tool that came with your FlexGrip. The plate stays on the camera.
- Changing your mind laterInterchangeable in both directions. An aluminum grip can go brass and back again.
- Handle. One, in the material and finish you chose. No plate and no camera.
- Tool. Not included: the 4 mm hex tool ships with the FlexGrip itself.
- Every Leica FlexGrip plate. Every FlexGrip plate we make for the Leica Q2, Q3, M11 and M EV1. One screw, and it is the same screw on all of them.
- Both materials interchange. An aluminum plate takes a brass handle and the other way round.
- Not a standalone grip. Without a FlexGrip plate there is nothing for it to bolt to.
- Anodized and chrome finishes. A dry cloth for dust, a barely damp one for anything else. Skip solvents and abrasive pastes: the finish is a layer, and once it is cut through it does not grow back.
- Brass is meant to change. The high-contact areas brighten and the rest deepens. That is the material working, not the finish failing. If you want it uniform again, a metal polish will take it back; most people stop doing that after the first year.
- The screw. Check it is snug when you first fit the grip and again after a few outings. A quarter turn with the supplied tool is all it ever needs.
- What does it weigh?21 grams in aluminum, 65 grams in brass.
- Does this include the plate?No. This is the handle on its own, for a FlexGrip plate you already have. The plate and handle are sold together as a complete FlexGrip on the main product pages.
- Will it fit my FlexGrip?Yes, if your plate is a FlexGrip for the Leica Q2, Q3, M11 or M EV1. The mounting is the same across all of them.
- How hard is it to change?One screw, with the 4 mm hex tool that came with your FlexGrip. The plate does not come off the camera to do it.
