Chest height, square lug, no rings in the way
The Comfy Shorty SL is cut for the photographer who wants the camera at chest height and nowhere else. Twenty eight or thirty inches lug to lug, so the body sits above the heart, turns from landscape to portrait without a fight, and never swings into your hip on the walk between frames.
It was made for the Leica SL system and for every other camera that carries a square lug. Run your SL with M glass on an adapter, or with the light native lenses from Leica, Sigma and Lumix, and the strap holds the same line either way.
- Length. 28 inches, 71 cm, or 30 inches, 76 cm, measured lug to lug.
- Carry position. Chest height, above the heart.
- Attachment. Flat webbing for square lugs, 3/8 inch, 9.5 mm.
- Body. Flat rope with a padded leather section at the neck.
- Ends. Vegetable tanned leather.
- Chrome tanned leather. Smooth, water resistant, and the finish holds rather than rubbing away in the first season.
- Flat rope body. Our own flat rope construction, the same one under every Owlkrown flat strap.
- Vegetable tanned leather ends. The ends take the load and the abrasion, so they are cut from veg tan for the toughness.
- Made in Miami. Cut, sewn and finished in our own shop.
- Walking a street you do not knowThe camera rides at chest height, so it is already in your hands before the gesture finishes. Nothing to unwind, nothing to lift over your shoulder.
- Turning the body to portraitA short strap turns with the camera instead of pulling against it. The frame rotates, your elbows stay in, and the composition is the only thing you are thinking about.
- Two bodies, one walkWear the SL short and a second camera long. They hang at different heights, so they do not knock together and each one is exactly where your hand expects.
- A long day on your feetFlat rope spreads across the neck rather than cutting into it, and the leather pad sits where the weight lands. You notice the light, not the strap.
The Comfy Shorty SL terminates in flat webbing that threads a square lug, so there is no ring or clip between the strap and the camera.
- 3/8 inch, 9.5 mm. For cameras with a narrower square lug.
- Measure the lug before ordering. This strap is cut for the narrower 3/8 inch lug, and that width is the one thing here that cannot be changed later.
- Lenses. Built around the SL with M glass or with the light native lenses from Leica, Sigma and Lumix.
- Wet weather. The leather is chrome tanned and water resistant. Let it dry away from direct heat, never on a radiator.
- Cleaning. A dry cloth for dust. A barely damp one for anything else, then let it dry flat.
- Check the webbing. Look at where the webbing passes through the lug every few months, the way you would check any load bearing point.
- Which this width?3/8 inch, 9.5 mm is for cameras with a smaller square lug.
- Is this the same as the Comfy Shorty?Same length and the same carry position. The SL ends in flat webbing for a square lug instead of a ring, which is what makes it fit the SL system directly.
- 28 or 30 inches?Thirty is the common choice and sits a little lower. Twenty eight pulls the camera up and suits a shorter torso or a heavier body.
- Can I use it on two cameras?Yes, if both carry a square lug of the same width. The webbing threads out and back in.
