The SL3 FlexPlate is shipping, and it is not the plate you reserved

The FlexPlate for the Leica SL3 is shipping. Preorders are going out in the order they were received, and the plate is now available to order without waiting for a list.

To everyone who preordered and then waited longer than we first said: thank you. You were patient with a date that moved, and you deserve to know why it moved.

Partway through the run, Gaston decided the plate was not finished. Not broken, not late in the ordinary sense, just short of the thing he wanted to put his name on. So it went back to the bench and came out as what is effectively a second version: refined, reworked, and better than the plate you originally reserved. The one arriving at your door is that plate, at the price you paid for the first.

That is the part worth saying plainly. Holding a shipment is an expensive way to be right, and it is the only way we know how to work. A plate that lives on the camera permanently has to be worth living with.

What you are getting

The base layer of a modular system: a pinky ledge that gives the little finger somewhere to land, a concealed Arca profile flush at the base, a hidden AirTag compartment, two spare cards carried on the camera, two 1/4-20 mounts and anti-skid contact points. Machined from solid billet in Miami, tumbled, bead blasted and finished in house with Type III hardcoat anodize.

The L bracket, the side handle and the top handle are still on the bench, and each will mount to the same base you own today.

We are sure you are going to enjoy it. Send us a frame when you do.
